China Slim Tea helps with weight loss, constipation, and detoxing.

About this rating

Although China Slim Tea receives mixed customer reviews, most online reviews are positive, with many saying it's beneficial for constipation, weight loss, and detox. However, China Slim Tea should only be used to help with constipation, as:

  • Using it as a weight-loss supplement can endanger your health.
  • Detox teas can cause bloating.
  • The weight you lose is mainly water weight (not body fat)
  • It won't rid your body of toxins

China Slim Tea is a brand of tea that is marketed as "a dietary supplement" and used by many to help with weight loss. Even though both the name and logo indicate that the tea can help you drop a few pounds, does China Slim Tea work?

According to some websites that sell China Slim Tea, you can use the herbal tea to:

  • Help you lose weight
  • Help curb appetites
  • Boost your metabolism
  • Stop overeating
  • Relieve constipation

We take a closer look at the tea, its ingredients, and what it's should actually be used for.

Does China Slim Tea Work For Weight Loss?

Looking just at the packaging, China Slim Tea looks like it's made specifically for weight loss—putting "Slim" in the name of the tea gives this impression, as does the logo of a thin woman sitting on a teacup.

However, after reading the directions for the tea (found inside the box), you can't be so sure if it will help you lose weight.

The directions include several disclaimers about using China Slim Tea as a weight loss supplement.

China Slim Tea Disclaimer

This product contains no artificial appetite suppressant.

“China Slim Tea,” and “The Lady Sitting on the Teacup” logo is our trademarked brand and we make no representations regarding the use of any of our products as weight loss tools.

The effectiveness as well as the safety of using any product as weight loss tools should be discussed with your physician.

These disclaimers, though, seem pretty standard when it comes to weight loss products—they don't usually "promise" weight loss since results will vary from person to person. Additionally, other tea makers have been fined after making false claims that their tea helped with weight loss.

Many who have bought the product claim it is helpful when trying to lose weight, but it's questionable whether the weight loss is long-term or even healthy.

How China Slim Tea Works for (Short-Term) Weight Loss

China Slim Tea helps with weight loss because it contains senna, a herb, and an FDA-approved over-the-counter laxative. However, laxatives are not recommended as a weight-loss tool because they essentially help you to lose water weight versus body fat.

Using Laxatives for Weight Loss Is Not Recommended

Although you may weigh less after taking laxatives, including China Slim Tea, it's only temporary. Laxatives do not help you lose body fat, nor do they help with long-term weight loss.

Senna can be used to treat constipation and may also be used to cleanse bowels (for example, before having a colonoscopy) as it encourages bowel movements. However, senna is not a recommended supplement for weight loss or to suppress appetites.

Does China Slim Tea Work for Constipation?

Yes, China Slim Tea does help relieve constipation, and in fact, it should really only be used for this purpose. With senna being the only ingredient in this tea and senna only being approved for use as a laxative, China Slim Tea should also be used as such.

However, you should only drink China Slim Tea minimally, specifically:

  • Only one cup per day
  • Max. 10 days in a row

Laxatives, like senna, should only be used short-term as long-term use can lead to serious health concerns, including:

  • Dehydration
  • Mineral deficiencies
  • Electrolyte issues
  • Damage to your digestive system

Those with digestion issues say China Slim Tea has helped them have regular bowel movements.

Does China Slim Tea Work for Bloating?

Although some customers (according to online reviews) have found China Slim Tea effective in decreasing bloating, detox teas, such as this one, have been known to cause bloating, excess gas, and cramps.

Since the tea does encourage bowel movements, it likely does help to relieve some bloating. However, it's not a proven benefit.

Does China Slim Tea Work as a Detox?

The purpose of a detox is to rid your body of toxins and unhealthy substances. China Slim Tea mainly helps you lose water weight quickly, so, therefore, isn't successful in ridding your body of these toxins.

It may feel like you're getting a nice detox once the tea starts to work, but you're essentially just ridding your body of water and food that's been converted into waste. Laxatives also make food travel through your digestive system faster, not giving your body enough time to absorb vitamins and minerals. Therefore, drinking the tea to improve your health may not actually work.

Some tips to rid your body of toxins and harmful substances is to:

  • Limit your intake of unhealthy foods and drinks (e.g., alcohol, sugars, processed foods)
  • Ensure you get adequate rest and sleep
  • Drink sufficient amounts of water
  • Eat more foods that are rich in antioxidants
  • Eat foods that have prebiotics (e.g., bananas, garlic, onions)
  • Limit your sodium intake
  • Stay active (regular exercise helps to reduce inflammation and encourages natural detox)

Dangers of Misusing China Slim Tea

If you ignore the warnings and directions, China Slim Tea can be harmful. As with all types of laxatives, several health complications can come from long-term use and misuse, including:

  • Dehydration (laxatives rid your body of water)
  • Diarrhea
  • Interactions with other medications
  • Requiring laxatives to have a bowel movement
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Weakness
  • Deficiencies in vitamins and minerals
  • Long-term damage to your digestive system

The tea should only be consumed in moderation as per the instructions.

China Slim Tea: Customer Reviews

Reviews of China Slim Tea on Amazon and Root+Spring (an online Chinese herbal store) are overall quite positive. Average reviews on Amazon are around 4 to 4.5 out of 5, while almost all reviews on Root+Spring give the tea 5 stars.

However, it's important to note that not everyone uses China Slim Tea for the same reason. For example, some may be using it to aid in weight loss, while others use it to relieve constipation.

Customer Review (Root+Spring)

It Works (5 stars)

This tea really works to clean your gut out. I thought it would take a couple hours before it started working but noooo. It kick in within 2-3 hours. I believe I let it brew too long that's why. Start off with one tea bag to see how it works for you before seeping 2 bags together. It does make you cramp too.

Despite the above reviewer recommending steeping two bags of China Slim Tea together, it's essential only to use the tea as directed—one bag, steeped for two minutes, per day (for a maximum of ten days).

Customer Review (Root+Spring)

5 Stars

I ordered the China Slim Tea and received it within a week. I normally drink twice a day, with lunch and with dinner. If I know I am heading out for the day, I would only have 1 cup at night. I haven't seen a significant weight loss with the tea but it is definitely cleansing out my body.

As mentioned, China Slim Tea should not be used as a long-term weight loss tool. This is because long-term use of the product can lead to serious health issues.

Customer Review (Root+Spring)

Must drink (5 Stars)

I drnk this tea because I do not have normal bowel movements. This tea helped not only with regulating my bowel movement but I feel also cleanse my system. For anyone trying this tea please read the instruction and follow them in detail. This tea will not make your stomach flatter but definitely will help you with your bowel movement.

The above reviewer had positive results after drinking China Slim Tea to relieve constipation, which is what the tea should be used for.

Customer Review (Amazon)

Weight loss, it's lit! (5 Stars)

I love this tea! Sadly I'm a binge eater who's struggling to lose weight at the moment. I take this after if a binge occurs and it flushes everything out of my body and I wake up with a flat tummy, as if nothing ever happened. Nothing gained. Lovely, lit af. Highly recommend.

Although some people may find China Slim Tea helpful when trying to lose weight, remember that you'll be mainly losing water weight and stopping your body from absorbing necessary vitamins and minerals from your food.

Customer Review (Amazon)

Doesn't really work for me (1 Star)

I was so excited to try this. I saw someone on tiktok talking about it so I ordered it. When I saw senna was the main ingredient I was worried because I'm not a fan of licorice, but the taste actually isn't bad. The first time I took it I was very pleased with the results, but after the first day I had nothing except terrible gas pains. I took it 3 days in a row then stopped for a week and tried again with no results. Very unhappy cuz I wanted it to work.

Detox teas, including China Slim Tea, are known for causing bloating and gas pains.

Total trash (1 Star)

This is garbage. Go back to what works. Diet and exercise.
